Entertainments consumed this weekend

This is, effectively, "This Is Spinal Tap" for the Beatles. It was entertaining, but would probably have been significantly more entertaining if I knew more about the Beatles. "Eric Idle's Memoirs" in the Special Features are worth reading.
Saturday: Avenue Q (Did we mention we won a Tony?)

ianhickson and eeyore_grrl had tickets, and asked us if we wanted to buy them and come along. "We dunno," we said, "I[1] want to see it, but $100 is a lot of money for a show." "Okay," said Ian, "you come and watch it and then afterwards you can pay us what you think it was worth." "Okay!" we said.
It was awesome.
I had been wanting to see it, after hearing about it and listening to some of the songs. The songs by themselves are more in the "mildly amusing" category than the "must see now!" category, but they gain a lot from the staging. It is a very, very, very clever show, and the puppet sex is pretty tasteful, for puppet sex. Highly recommended.
Kate Monster is my new role model for Cutting Statements.
Sunday: Stranger Than Fiction (DVD)
This movie is about a guy who discovers that his life is being narrated by an author, and goes to find her so he can talk her out of killing him off. It was quite good. I'm not entirely sure what to say about it; I'd like to get people who might like it interested in watching it, but I'm not sure how to describe it in such a way that it intrigues the people who'd like it and warns off the people who wouldn't. It's kind of philosophical. If the premise sounds even a little bit like you might be interested, go see it, because they did some very interesting things with it. And the actors all did an excellent job being very, very weird people.
[1] Me. Andres was less interested; this is either because he is uninterested in musicals or because Let My Puppets Come scarred his brain. Or both!
