Behind the cut, you may find the main text of the letter I just sent to all my congresscritters, in the order I thought they needed to see it, which is to say starting with Feinstein.



Unity is great and all, but please do not be baited into ignoring the misdeeds of the past administration in hopes of moving on. An abscess must be drained before it can heal, and the anti-democratic rot in American government must be addressed and eliminated before the country can move forward.

The negative peace of ignoring and deflecting will get us nowhere. We need Martin Luther King Jr.’s positive peace which is the presence of justice.

Hold the representatives who tried to overturn or bypass the vote accountable. Censure, remove from office, prosecute -- whatever is necessary.

Finish Trump’s impeachment and trial as quickly as possible and get the investigations moving into what he stole, sabotaged, or gave away to enemies of the state.

Hold everyone accountable, because only after a full accounting of the harms done by the previous administration can those harms be salved and true healing begin.
